Abstract
The financial technologies (FinTech) revolution is in full swing globally. In this paper, we take a glimpse into the FinTech revolution, considering the opportunities and risks for households, firms, banks and the government, based on the quickly increasing volume of research in this area. We also consider regulatory issues and the broader question of the governance of FinTech in a global context. We summarise the key take-aways from existing research but also identify some promising research ideas, which future research could pursue, including some insights into the context of the global Covid-19 pandemic and other global risks.

Keywords: Fintech; flow of funds; households; firms; banks; government; central banks; financial regulation; governance of FinTech; COVID-19 global pandemic
